Bookbinding 1 with Arielle
What a terrific day! Day one of learning about how books are constructed and learning the techniques to make our first book. We started with some brief book history and terminology of the construction and parts of a book. Then we dove right into measuring, cutting, slicing, and pasting with Arielle of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG).
Arielle is a wonderfully thoughtful and patient instructor. She brings a quiet confidence and deep knowledge to her teaching, gently guiding us through each step and encouraging questions along the way. Her clear demonstrations, practical tips, and calm presence created a welcoming space for us to try new techniques and build our skills.
We were also lucky to have Wendy on hand—ever watchful and encouraging—who stepped in with just the right tip or reassuring word when we were fumbling, confused, or just plain goofing up! Together, Arielle and Wendy made the day not only productive but truly enjoyable. We’re so grateful to be learning from people who care so much about the craft and about their learners.
