A Proper May Two-Four Weekend 🇨🇦
The Victoria Day long weekend — and yes, I still rather like calling it Empire Day now and then, especially with my United Empire Loyalist roots — turned out to be a wonderfully full few days of sunshine, music, gardening, bikes, hockey, and the official opening of pool season.
The garden is beginning to wake up properly now. I spent a little time weeding and planting a few new things, though there is much more to come.
I took my new e-bike out for a proper excursion and absolutely loved it. I can already tell there are routes I simply would never have attempted on my old bike. The bike paths were gorgeous all the way down toward Lambeth. Perhaps next time I’ll strap my trumpet to my back and ride to Jazzabelles rehearsal at the Legion. LOL.
Monday brought our first parade of the season in Thamesford. It was hot, bright, a bit breezy, and there were potential thunderstorms in the forecast, but we managed to get through beautifully.
Back at home, the pool officially opened for the season as well. The water was lovely and clear, and I made good use of my new Hudson’s Bay stripes — a little bit classic Canadian summer cottage aesthetic. I have wanted a set for ages, and they made their debut this weekend in style.
And tonight? Game 7. The Habs are very much not gone and were leading Buffalo 2–0 in the second period as I was writing this. A national duty remains in full force: allez Montréal! 🇨🇦🏒
