About Me

I missed out on the MySpace and Geocities craze, while I was immersed in studying, work, and family. And now that I have a job that allows me to take the time to explore and lots curiosity, I'm diggin' in! I think that learnng HTML and CSS and creating websites is a critical digital litgeracy. For one thing, if I am trying to grab data off of a website, I can see where I need to look in the code to ask for it, . . politely of course! 🇨🇦

I have an MA in Musicology and an MSc in Information and Library Science, and I bring equal parts expertise and enthusiasm to everything I do. By day, I’m a Research and Scholarly Communication Librarian at Western Libraries, where I explore bibliometric tools, support the implementation and maintenance of the Research Information Management System (RIMS), and help researchers navigate all things ORCID and online research profiles. I also spend a lot of time cleaning up aggregated metadata in platforms like OpenAlex, ROR, Scopus, and Web of Science to make sure research outputs are accurately represented and easy to find.

But that’s just one side of me! When I’m not wrangling metadata, I’m playing trumpet in jazz and brass ensembles, bringing a little brass brilliance to the stage. And when I’m not making music, I’m deep into my other passion—family history. I like to say, “I see dead people,” because I’m constantly uncovering stories, tracing ancestors, and bringing the past to life. Whether I’m mapping research impact or a family tree, I love connecting people, ideas, and history in meaningful ways—with a bit of flair and a lot of heart.
